So I went to the local tack shop and looked at the grooming brushes as I need a new dandy. Oh what a sorry bunch of brushes they had of different makes. :( Soft, sparsely distributed bristles and plastic backs, the whole effect was not instilling me with the belief that the brushes could actually brush off dry mud at all! So I came away without a dandy brush.

Anyone know of a decent dandy? My last one (given to me when I was 12) has really seen better days, which is sad as it has served me well and helped to polish many a pony.

I like salmon dandy brushes, nice and sturdy tight packed bristles with a wooden back. My current one has lasted for years but I think they still sell them.

The Schimmels not a body brush. Its a dandy brush isnt it? Thats what I use it for anyway. Filth removal and bringing scurf up to the top. Thats how they market it as well.

I hardly ever use a dandy brush now neither of my horses particularly like the hard bristles, I use the metal scraper things meant for getting loose hair out, it gets mud off easily and my horses seem to prefer it to a brush.

I have some small dandy brushes in my garage left over from when I used to sell stuff, there quite good ones I could post you a couple of them if you wanted.
