I can't believe I didn't think of that. I'm sure we have one in a cupboard somewhere too! 🤭😆

I'd not generally recommend it, half holes often aren't quite at half the distance of regular ones, and if you do it of course make sure everything is far enough apart to be safe. Do also have a think about the sort of leathers you want though, single thickness leathers (with a buckle if you're jumping, T bars okay for flatwork) can stop the knee running forwards or rotating out. Thicker leathers are better for people that drop forward in the saddle and/or whose legs drop too much from the hip, with the leg going backwards.

Thanks.

I generally like my current leathers but I have an issue with my right leg. It drops very slightly lower than my left (have had checks on me and the saddle and I'm as sure as I can be that neither me nor the saddle are crooked).

But if I put it up a hole it feels too short and this is most obvious if I put my leathers up for a faster hack. It also makes my leg sit further forward and I feel less secure (this is a TG pony club saddle).

So I thought I'd try half hole leathers as a temporary solution.

I think it comes down to all my old running injuries, I'm a bit of a mess!

Have you also checked that your stirrup leathers are exactly the same length? Its generally good practice to swap the sides they go on every so often :)

I also have this problem of one leg feeling longer than the other but I believe mine is due to asymmetry which affects how I sit, (probably caused by office slouching!) Trying to sort this out with strengthening and stretching excercises. Also check the leathers are actually even a friend bought a new pair and when hooked on a hay bar the holes don't even line up!!

That's a good point. I've heard similar before.

I have the Henry James ones. Gorgeous, soft leather.

I also ride half a hole longer on one side. I’ve been seeing the Chiro for over a year and horse has regular visits too. Pretty sure it’s just my build but who knows? In the mean time, the half hole thing does the trick 😜
