Shoppers: Which double bridle? Any suggestions?

Morning wise ones

Mr Morris has been thwarted in his bid to b***er off with me each time we do a medium/extension (yes, he even tries it in the walk) by introducing him to a double bridle. It was a complete revelation to me when we tried it for the first time last week. WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG?!!

Anyhoo, I have been borrowing my OH's beautiful Albion comfort bridle, but when I saw the price I nearly fainted (and then confiscated his credit card!). And, of course, I love the Elevator ones too, but that price tag made my eyes water too.

Now, if everyone insists that the more expensive ones are better, of course I will just have to suck it up and pay, but if there is a cheaper alternative....

I need: Full size, black, thick noseband, would like to use my uber bling browband on it, not keen on rolled ones, not bothered about throatlash/no throatlash, don't need bits.

As ever, tea, coffee and Kitkats are on offer Thankys!

I got a beautiful flat leather double from Gerry Reynolds http://grsaddlery.co.uk/

Although the website says he specialises in racing equipment he also supplies showing yards etc. He is really nice and I felt I got great service.

His bridles come in at under £200 for a standard type.

Elevator all the way i'm afraid!!

Certainly not cheap but I have had mine for 5 yrs, gets very regular use and is still literally as good as new, absolutely 100% worth their money.

If you do go for one bare in mind they do come up big, I ended up with a cob bridle with pony noseband and cheek pieces, the company were more than happy to help with getting it mixed and matched to fit...

Im just starting using a double on my horse at the moment aswell, am actually borrowing one from a friend and its lovely, and costs £40!!!!

I have actually just bought a gorgeous patent flash bridle for my 4yr old from them and the quality is super is as good as any expensive makes. I've had Elevators, Albions and Passiers and its up with all of them. Very impressed.

I have a lovely Sabre one (came from ebay and was £50 nearly new) which fulfills all your requirements. I do prefer them with billets as I think they look very 'busy' otherwise.

If I had to buy another I think I'd probably go for the Barnsby one. Looks v smart.

Mine has an Albion which I love, I also recommend Otto Schumacher, Elevator, Barnsby, Kate Negus or Jeffries.

All of them are well made, lovely quality and hard wearing.

It is the nicest bridle I've ever had (also have a Schockemohle and Elevator, had Albion) and is in fact my most favourite horsey product ever because it's such good value for money. I've had mine three years, using virtually every day, and people still keep asking me if it's new! I am a complete numpty at cleaning tack, so it gets a wipe with a sponge once in a blue moon and it's never stretched and none of the stitching has come out.

Sorry to rave, but I really love it and I especially love the price!!!

I bought an double bridle Elevator without a throat lash and then had a double buckle strap made up which attachs to the bridoon straps and now I can use it as a snaffle as well. Two bridles for the price of one. Lovely bridles too.
