Hello,

well after starting treatment for my boys sarcoids, he is going to be out of work for the foreseeable future so I am considering looking for something to a) keep him company and b) bring on or enjoy while he is off.

i am in south Devon and not really sure where to start looking. It would need to be a loan poss lwvtb or if buying very cheap as while I can keep another I do not have the cash funds right now to spend out a lot.

I am lightweight and small so considering 13.2 upwards, native type or similar. Don't mind young and projecty but can't really be bothered with a nutter (my current was hard work to be begin with)

does anyone have any suggestions of where to look, or even know of anything suitable?

I had a good look on preloved last night, cost me £5 to get some details! Couple promising that I have contacted. Probably going to pop along to the sales next Tuesday. Do many horses go out on loan through word of mouth? Would it be worth asking my vet or farrier?
 
If you're in South Devon you're probably aware of one place to avoid!!! Used to be nr Kingsbridge......... need I say more. PM me if you want to know name but you won't need to coz ask around your area and everyone will know it!!

Mmmm, I'm not really in your neck of the woods (E.Devon) but one thing you might consider is to mebbe get something on winter loan from a trekking/riding centre??? I did this with my traddie and ended up keeping the blighter!! You'd have to be discerning, and make sure you didn't get landed with someone else's rubbish/problem, BUT at the end of the summer season you might find something half decent this way??

Just a suggestion anyway.
 
That's a really good idea, if I haven't found something by the end of the summer ill ask around. Have also looked at swep and mare and foal although they are mostly very little ponies and I might be small but not that small!
 
I went to Newton Abbot market looking for something to keep our boy company as we had lost his friend earlier in the year....ended up coming back with 2 x 2 year old fillies, one coloured, one chestnut for £140 each. Both are by a coloured stallion called Croxlea Chas both 3/4 TB types, neither had had any handling but both are absolutely lovely. Can't quite believe how fab they have turned out! I know Kivells at Exeter have been gradually selling off a traditional type coloured stud over the past few months. They are fetching bobbins and if you don't mind something 2 or 3 the risk is much less.
