Yay, couple of days to go to Olympia - Im slightly overwhelmend by the number of stands there will be @ it this year.
Looking for tips, am looking for a Dressage Jacket, Show Jumping Jacket, New Bridle , Breeches & would love a schooling whip with a bit of bling ( yes I know )

Are there any real bargins to be had, any exhibitors that you would recommend?

No tips, although funnily enough have just been speaking to a friend who seems to have the knack of finding bargains at Olympia-have pointed her in the direction of this thread!

I always goes as soon as the shopping for my performance opens (eg- evening performance shopping opens at 1pm) cause the shops are not busy at this point so its easier to look around and browse/compare then go back and buy, rather than push my way through big crowds with lots of bags etc :) X

I would say take cash and be cheeky if you are buying something big. Ask for a discount or see if they will throw something in for free for you. This only works if the stand is quiet at the time you are there. If they say no, then be prepared to walk away...
Remember it is a buyer's market and they don't want to take their stock home with them.

OOHH I like the sound of trying that:)

Definitely arrive early as the stands are a lot quieter and easier to negotiate and get bargains. I have always managed to get discount from ayr equestrian who are always there. If you are buying two or more things make them thing you only want one and offer them a reduced price for the two or more than what they are asking - it normally works for me. As a previous reply said they do not want to take their stock back home - they have paid a fortune for the stand so all profit for them helps to cover their costs. There are loads to choose from and definitely from experience if you are paying cash you are more likely to get the discounts. Happy shopping and spend lots x:):)

What I tend to do I research what I'm thinking of buying on the net before I go so that I have an idea of the prices, then have a good nose round and check out the prices, then you'll know what's a bargain! There tends to be some great deals and to be honest I often wonder why I bother to buy anything that's not from a show ground!
