Hi.
firstly, apologies (s.p.) as i have already done a similar post in stable yard, but only got 1 (v. nice) reply- so thought i would have a go in here!

i was hoping for some suggestions on which girth i should get to go with my new wow sadle which has long girth straps.

i am getting jumping and dressage flaps, so would like a girth suitable for both. ideally one with a liner, or which i can fit a girth sleeve over, for easy cleaning i.e machine washable, as i'm lazy!

the only one i've seen which i like is the frank baines with a sheepskin liner- has anyone got one of these?

any replies would be great, thanks.

oooh i woud be very much interested in this post as well as i have actually just done the same as u!

fingers crossed for some replies then!

what wow options did you go for? i've got the deep seat with the fixed block jumping and regular fixed block dressage flaps.

am going mad buying new stuff to go with it!

am now concidering new strriup irons- i like the sprenger flexi ones, but have seen a listing on the long melford saddlery website for some amerigo carbon cheese grater tread flexi ones- but there's no picture so i don't realy know what they are like

cant wait 3 weeks to go now!!!

I have the albion girth (legend i think its called??)... the curved one which i love. Aside from that, ive also got a stubben synthetic girth that has a squishy cover thing already on it which I use when the school is particularly grim and I dont want it all over my albion

By the sounds of it, you probably have the giant dressage blocks. I tried both those and the standard when I got my wow but found the giant ones a tad too intrusive.. they are huge though :P

lucky you! did you have to ask for it?
i like the curvy wow girth- but can't find a girth sleeve to fit it! so at £120 am not convinced! did you buy numnahs as well? i'm going to have to, and they are all £20 +

To follow up from my post on your original thread:
Decided Lidl one sided elastic is pretty crap
Professional choice is fab and gripping well

But- ... on the wow the girth straps don't seem to have holes that match up (perfectly level). Granted hopeing my saddle will be better than this demo one I have, however if this is the case I am considering a humane girth to get over the unevenness

Yes loads of you will bleat on about over tightening, but I have used humane girths with no problems, and I am quite slack about tightening my girth full stop.

i didn't know that

when i had the demo, the fitter did up the girth for me so i never really looked

.
so, the front and back girth straps are ment to go on 'diffrent' holes, as it were?
the frank baines girth i'm concidering has the 'humane' type ends. is this bad?

I use wintec one on my dressage and i like it.
Please don't use a human one... if one of your girth straps on the saddle were to break or one of the straps on the girth did then the 'pulley' system as it were would slacken your girth by a good 6 inches. Whereas a 'normal' girth the second strap will still keep your girth tight until you can get off safely and remove it.
Have witnessed a very bad accident due to this and my PC have now banned the use of these girths as a result.

The WOW straps depend how the girth rigging is set up - if the foregirth is one the the front strap is longer than the back. However with the two V's like I have the holes are just not level, or offset by one, which is a pain in the a*se.

Emily99, I appreciate what you are saying, however I have seen these girths used for years in polo without an accident. I have owned quite a few and never had a problem, I still would not hesitate to use one (unless I had a dodgy old saddle)
