Anyone else needed this and know where to find it? I don’t need to spend £800 for a month or so on sales livery! They require insurance (understandable) but I have a savings pot for mine so only insured for third party atm. I own more than 4 ponies too, so I think that means I cannot get the WHW one or Harry Hall…. Lost two from old age last year so NFU would be out also.

Would prefer to send pony away to sell as would be less upsetting to kids than seeing people come to try again and again and wondering if this is the set of people who will like her…or not.

If they're asking for third parry insurance, £50 from World Horse Welfare,.or £150 including vet fees for external injuries.

Although the sales livery place should have their own professional insurance as your third party one wouldn't cover them working with the horse

Edit - very odd for a sales yard to ask you to insure your horse for injuries since it's none of their business now you will pat for any vet bills.

I agree, ours went to sales livery and they never even asked!

Mine went to sales livery uninsured. No bother. I would simply have paid for any normal vets fees, although not a colic operation. They had 3rd party insurance with their business.

The one decent reply I have had, states horses must be insured for loss of horse and vet’s fees. That suggests they have their own third party. They have the right size of rider though for our pony, so thought it was worth investigating at least. I have third party through BHS but they haven’t asked about that.

I'd honestly keep looking for somewhere else, I know it's tricky with kids ponies as we had to do the same for my daughters pony as we didn't want to put her through all the viewings etc...we chose a place recommended locally who specialises in ponies. Whereabouts are you?

Can you get insurance where you pay monthly and can cancel when you sell the pony rather than paying the whole lot up front.

Can recommend a brilliant lady near Hereford if that's not too far, she has a fantastic reputation for PC type ponies (over 12hh) and was brilliant selling ours x

Sadly ours is smaller than that (hence needing a place with the right sized child) and young so not so keen on wobbly kids (so all the places with tiny tot jockeys are out).

You can take an insurance policy paid monthly, you don't need to pay the year up front. All the E&L/ Insurance Emporium can be paid monthly and canceled with a month's notice.

I know someone in S.Wales so not too far away from you who does really well with small ponies (and 17hhers for that matter!). She's about 5'1 and 7 stone soaking wet but also has vey good child jockeys to get on board for photos and videos when they're ready. Drop me a PM if you want her details.

My sales livery contact just stated the below. I was insured third party with BHS and full with SEIB. I rang both to change Lari's address for sales livery but neither said they needed it.

Pony only weighs 220kg and is still growing. She’s not big enough to carry even a small adult.

Although kids now want us to sell her from here, despite me being pretty sure that will be more upsetting for them. My son wants to help choose her next family. I said we’ll think about it!!!
