I'm new to the world of livery but want to know if it is possible to take a livery place for just two or three months or am I likely to be refused this request by livery owners?

My situation is that the place where I really want to take up a limited working livery agreement won't take my rather green horse until he has some sense! He's actually not too bad but I don't want to risk getting thrown out of where I want to go because it's pretty perfect for what I want to do and for him.

But in the meantime, I would need some professional help so I thought a short-term schooling livery somewhere else could work. I'm in Berks. Would appreciate any advice.

I doubt they'd refuse you, particularly as its schooling livery - they can be as long or short-term as needed. And anyway I dont think many yard owners would turn down the opportunity of a few months extra cash!

Im miles from you so can't help with suggestions on yards but maybe speak to the yard you've already decided on, they're quite likely to know other places

Just book yourself in for schooling livery, there used to be a place out the back of the Bearwood Forest near Wokingham that used to do that, I'm not jenned up on the area any more as I moved from there some 15 years ago ;-)

Hi,

Not sure where you are in Berks(near Ascot??) but am sure that Tessa Spencer at Clivedon Stud could help you? PM me for tel no/details.... she has 2 yards - a full livery one and a separate part livery yard so is on hand for help/advice etc as needed but keeps costs down for you?

Might be worth investigating?
