Hope someone can help!

Have been looking through some of my dressage pics and my navy show jacket does NO favours for me (I usually wear my tweed which I love but have taken to using the navy one for dressage) Im 5'2 and fairly short in the leg anyway but the jacket certainly isnt helping with the 'leggy' dressage rider look. So, Im on the look out for a nice flattering shorter length jacket. I dont do 'bling' so blingy ones are definately out although I am open to trying one of the more modern technical fabrics as well as more traditional ones. Any suggestions of where to start looking?

Thanks!!!!!

what size are you? i have a beautiful cut away Caldene Navy wool cut away jacket - unfortunatly the sleeves are far too short for me and the gap between gloves and jackets is not too appealing! but it is beautifully cut and looks very elegant because it doesn't hang over the back of the saddle whichi find can make even a fitting jacket look big!

LeannePip - Im a 10 or a 12 depending on the cut (big boobs which I flatten down with a sports bra haha

Will have a look into the hkm one thankyou.

Ive seen the pikeur skarlett online but never seen one in the flesh. Looks lovely length wise from the pictures Ive seen but doesnt look very shapely in the body - would be interesting to hear what people think of them.

ahh okay i somehow manage to shoe horn myself into this one beacuse its beautiful but its an 8/10! i tried dieting down to get into it comfortable but was far too much hard work for jacket i only wear a few times a year!! and cannot for the life of me find this jacket in a 10! :(

think half the trouble with jackets is that the pictures always look huge and baggy! currently looking for a new navy jacket too so will watch with interest

I have the Pikeur Skarlett and it's lovely (shorter softshell style) :)

Mine has a gold suede collar but you can get them in plain black or navy.

I'm 5'10 so don't need a shorter style jacket but the Pikeur Diana I had before constantly hung over the saddle and got on my nerves!

Pikeur do come up big though so maybe go down a size.

I have a Pikeur Skarlett and I really rate it. I am about 5ft 3 and quite busty (size 12-14) but I find it is nicely cut and sits well on my shape.

im going to have a look at these as well - i have a lovely new caldene pinstripe jacket, which Ive had for months but never worn. I wore it for dressage today and it had never crossed my mind that it was longer cut than my old jacket and the flap at the back annoyed the hell out of me, if it wasnt flapping over the back of the saddle , i was sitting on it :(

I quite like that too glamourpuss if it wasnt for the buttons and piping around the pockets :(

Might wait and see if I can try a pikeur scarlett on somewhere - my bling phobic-ness can just about manage with a suede collar haha!

Would you fit a maids one? Mine is a maids one as I sit on the ladies ones.

I have the Horseware softshell one, MH has the Cavallo one (more expensive but traditional material). HKM Laura Garelli is nice if you like technical fabric.

How does the sizing come up on the horsewear one?

i also have a pikeur skarlett its so nice and flattering, im about 5'2/5'3 and it sits just above the saddle. the arms are not too tight like some of the shorter style tighter jackets. mine has the mccrown collar but i think it was only a tenner more!

Bought daughter the Horseware one recently as a well done present, despite my misgivings about the fabric and slightly lighter navy color, it actually looks rather nice, she tried that and the Skarlett and chose this for local unaffiliated and is saving up for the Skarlett for posher stuff. The fit of both is very similar to be honest, Horseware one is very stretchy but i don't think it will lend itself to very hot days as daughter was very warm yesterday despite the horrendous weather.

Well I deliberated long and hard. I loved the look of the Hooks jacket but wasn’t keen on the pockets on the front with the piping. I love the look of the Skarlett but cant justify the price just now so I went for the Horsewear one, its on offer just now for £49.99 :D. The only thing I wasnt sure about was the single vent on it as I prefer a double vent. However it has arrived and Im really delighted with it. It does feel a bit ‘odd’ when you are used to a traditional fabric but the cut and fit is really good. I dont find it overly short tbh. Im just about 5ft4 and it sits nicely , infact its the exact same length as my sherwood tweed. It is a very fitted jacket but Id say pretty true to size. The thing I love about it is that my BP fits nicely over it without feeling crushed.

I have a kingsland sloane jacket and it is very comfy. It is made of the technical fabric but still looks very smart. I got mine in a sale because I think it is an older model so if you look around yu may find it far cheaper than the newer model
