Lunged my horse this morning and there was a clicking noise from him hip area...?! He wasn't lame, infact he was as lively as ever but I'm slighty concerned by it.

I've never heard it leading/riding etc, only on the lunge.

It's definitely not from his legs it's like the hip and is a low knocking click (if that makes sense!)

He's 12 and he's not been lame or had any injuries since I've had him.

Any thoughts? Should I get the vet out?

Obviously a vet check is always a good idea:), but my neighbour's (she is also a vet) showjumper does the same thing and she is not concerned, but her horse is otherwise healthy, happy and sound.

my 25 year old mare has been 'clicking' for years, she is athritic in the hip joint but she is sound and it doesnt cause a problem, I did get the vet out to look when it started but it's never gone away.
