should I be feeding a laminitic cortaflex

Basically, as some of you may know, my lad is being treated for laminitis and has been lame about 6 weeks.
While ive been madly soaking his hay to within an inch of its life and taking carrots and all stuff that may have sugar in and not laminitis approved out of his diet Im currently feeding EA glucosamine/msm which contains dextrose. So off i plodded to feed shop to get cortaflex thinking it would not contain fillers etc but it does also contain dextrose so should I be feeding it????????

i would contact your vet for advice,they are in the best position to help

,i would have said it shouldnt cause a problem as it is specifically for joints etc,which in turn i would personally think it would help them,however have never had to deal with a lamintic so not 100%sure,sorry probably of no use,but vet will give you the answers you require

Although its a 'joint product' it still passes through the digestive system so in theory it would have some sort of effect as it contains dextrose. However your vet or a good independent nutritionist would be able to advise whether that level of dextrose is enough to influence the progress of laminitis.
