Stroking the dog when I find that theres a raised or maybe a slight swelling in the 'armpit' of her front leg?

It's only on one side and it doesnt bother her to touch. It's not large about the size of a 50p maybe?

Am I right to be a bit worried? Do I take her vets now or see if it goes down? She is well in herself if I hadn't of found it you wouldn't notice anything different about her.

It's soft, I can't really get hold of it? It's not like a lump where you can feel around it and grab hold of it it's to soft for that. Correct me if I'm wrong but do dogs not have glands in this spot? I can't feel an attachment to anything.

It's hard to explain and I know I'm not doing a good job in doing so!

She's 6 this month, I'm always paranoid about these things as I lost my last dog to cancer..

Think I'm just going to take her tomorrow, peace of mind.

Personally, if it was my dog, as they seem perfectly fine within them self I'd wait for a couple days and see if it goes down. If it is the big C, waiting just a couple days won't make any difference.
My two are always getting scratches, lumps and bumps from charging through hedges and ditches so I tend to take a more laid back approach to things like this. Have you pushed back the hair to get a food look at the skin to see if there's anything stuck in it? I'm regularly pulling out a thorn or tick head that's caused a bit of a swelling around it.

Perhaps on the face of it, a daft question, but does this 'lump' feel more like an 'air' pocket, rather than it being of substance? In other words, if you press down, with a finger tip, does the lump yield?

Alec.

If I push down on the bump it gets slightly harder and I can feel the bump much more obviously, bump doesn't disappear though, there's definitely some substance there when having a good prod.

There's deffo nothing in the skin to cause any irritation. She does injure herself on the regular, being a staffie she's always on the go and running about.

A bit late coming back, but I'd suggest a visit to the Vet, if only to put your mind at rest. That's what I would do!

I'm sure that the woofer will be fine. Will you let us know?

Alec.

I took her for a vet visit today and all was well :)

Vet couldn't find anything to be concerned about and said she was infact in perfect condition so my mind can rest about that now!

Thanks guys!

A lump appeared, about the same size on Stigs shoulder 2 years ago. I can get my fingers around it and move it about. Vet said only to go back if it grows, which it never has!

Well that's the thing it's wasn't like a lump it was just raised? It's hard to explain really was like a bump?

She has a tiny actual lump on her side that I can get hold of and move and was told to come back if it changes. But she's had that checked before now.

Rings to many familiar bells, my first staffie had the lumps that turned out to be cancer and I lost him to it :( that's why now I'm so paranoid about these things.

Did she get vaccinated lately? The other day my dog got vaccinated and a week later or so she had a quite big swelling. My doctor then told me that it could be due to the vaccination, so I waited some more days and was relieved that the swelling disappeared.
