Not really sure what to do! Donovan is going to be broken to drive in the next cuple of months, , and once he is ready, I dare say I will be brave enough to drive him on the road.
he has never had shoes on, and I would like to keep it that way, if I can. So, he is a 6 yr old welsh sec b, stands at 12.2 hh, is there some sort of supplement i can give him to strengthen his feet,or should I bite the bullet and get him shod?

Lots of different supplements - have you had his feet trimmed?

Ask your farrier as will be able to advise what he does/doesnt need and depending on how good his feet are (B's normally pretty damn good!!") the farrier will be able to advise where he needs shoing.

Would def recommend regular trims though and for baby horsey to get use to farrier ;-)

Good luck!

His feet are trimmed every 12 weeks, but to be honest, by then he is ready for it, as he gets a bit 'footy' just before he is trimmed. But seems really good with the farrier, so dont think he will have a problem having shoes put on if he needs them

Farriers Formula is an olddy but goody. Good all round care if you have no specific problems. Know footy horses do really well off it and we have one with terrible feet and came reasonably good on it

Currently using Pro Hoof because of a certain condition with flaring and a split...

I'd just go steady on the road work to start with to allow him time to get used to it. Mines unshod and can go for miles on the roads (ridden not driven admittedly) but its been built up slowly, you might also find trimming every 12 weeks becomes to often if your doing that much work on roads with him again mine gets a look over when the farrier comes but very rarely gets touched.

Mine gets a broad spec vit and min supplement mainly because he has a restricted diet.
