Ok so Dylan was clipped today, he is back out in the field with a lightweight turnout and neck on. His stable is made up and ready but I'm tempted to leave him out as long as I can.

He is a welsh section D and an extremely good doer, still being strip grazed as I have so much grass. The weather is due to drop to about 5 degrees tonight with the chance of a frost but staying dry.

So would you bring him in or put a medium weight rug on him and leave him out?

I would leave out. Although i took pity on my TB tonight after leaving him out in all that rain last night...oops!! he will be in tonight and tomorrow night and then as it warms again he will go back out!

My unclipped welshie will be out what ever the weather in his winter woolies as nature intended!!
I would put him out with a MW on if clipped :)

Thanks for the replies, I have been and put his medium weight on and left him out. Probably would be ok in his l/weight and if he's too warm in the morning will switch back.

Definitely leave him out but if he is fully clipped IMO he needs the mediumweight. To take off all his hair and leave him with just a sheet isn't fair!

James6 - yes that's how I felt hence the medium weight. He will be back in l/w during the day as still in double figures.

He loves being in his stable and I have no problem with mucking out etc but winter will be long enough when it comes.....
