Should i buy it should i buy should i buy it.........

He's called Bob! Bless him, I will indeed update in the new year! Thanks for all the advice guys, I know where to come in future :-)

Just saw this, and am very pleased to see you took a punt on him.

My first horse cost me £1 and I had a wonderful (but very steep learning curve) 5 years with him before I lost him due to colic.

I wish you all the luck in the world with that rather nice "young man"

LOL, I'm hardly one to speak but the fact it looks a bit 'wired' in its own field and was excited to trot up in field would have me running for the hills.

Is it actually that horses are worth peanuts at the moment, or do people think this horse could be dodgy?

Basically I have found a belter of a horse - 5 yr old gelding, ID/arab/tb, really lovely, came 4th eventing as a 4 year old. They're almost giving him away - owner is very, VERY ill as i understand it, and horse hasn't been ridden for 10 months due to this and he also pulled his back muscle which is now completely healed. The story seems genuine, and with a bit of work I think i could have a brilliant horse, i'm just a bit worried! I have spoken to the person who broke and evented him for the owner and the story of owners illness matches up and she said there aren't any other problems with the horse. Maybe I'm just being over cautious?

I know it's always a risk taking on a horse anyway unless you know it very well, and obviously I couldn't ride him to try him out (may have been funny as he literally hasn't been touched for ages!), but he seemed very nice, if a little excited, when we trotted him up in the field!! Would anyone else buy it!!!???????

Being paranoid I can only comment on the stuff I have dealt with so all I can comment on is why is pointing the right fore, could just be thats the way he stood for the camera, but just check it next time you see him, it can be a sign of navicular/foot pain.

I would go for it, but then I am not the most experienced horse person, and have been genuinely lucky. Coloured in my sig, my first horse, bought her for £500 as a 9 year old. She was owned by a young girl, I was riding her twice a week when the girl run off with her boyfriend leaving her parents with a horse they didn't know what to do with. Best £500 I have EVER spent. She really is my horse of a lifetime. Had her just over 10 years now, and bar an accident on a trailer, never been lame or sorry. Chestnut Suffolk, practically thrown at me, he is arthritic, but brings so much joy to all the kids that love him, friends that have never sat on a horse before can come for quiet hacks, and although I don't ride him often myself, he's too big for me to be comfortable on, I love him to bits. Then there is Ollie. Bought him off a friend I met through this forum earlier this year. 4 years old, an absolute poppet. Didn't have any of them vetted, and all 3 together cost less than £2000.
