Should I buy....

Thanks for everyone's advice!
I now have at least 3 horse viewings arranged so will try not to get too blinkered into this one :)

IMO, why buy a horse with health issues when there are plenty of sound horses out there! So I wouldn't touch with a barge pole.
However if you do go ahead with the viewing, yes talk to the owner's vet who dealt with the problem, but also your own vet.
And I wouldn't have anything less than a 5 stage vetting on said horse.

Good luck whatever you choose, and enjoy your horse hunting!:)

I'm certainly working on that principle!!!!
Should have known it was bad news when the horse wouldnt go near anything to use as a mounting block... all the owner said was "oh shes never done that before, her trainer was cantering her round the fields yesterday".... uhuh im sure!!

as this is your first horse id say NEVER get on anything unless you have seen it ridden in all 3 paces first.

Yeah I had promised myself to do that... woops!! Owner was "too ill" to ride :/
Should have walked away before going anywhere near it! Oh well, you live and learn.

Yes absolutely agree. I always do that and get a more confident/experienced friend to then try it before I do, she soon knows whether its even worth me getting on and no point in you knocking your confidence or getting hurt for nothing.
