My traditional cob was a little sweated up in his stable today, but i took him out and schooled him in walk for 15 mins then had a hack with a 1 mile trot, and he was absolutely dripping with sweat.
Bearing in mind this horse is about 4 mile trotting fit, and is getting a bit wooly now for winter, but the problem i have is we have more weddings to do with his carriage where we will need to trot more than today,
so would you clip him now or wait till next month???????

yep have got plenty of rugs he is wearing a cotton sheet at the minute to avid having to bath him every other day and was thinking of putting his thermatex on if i clip him. till it gets colder. then he has that and a mw rug,
but should i go the whole hog and full clip him but just leave his legs and head on as he wont let me do his head, or do i do a trace or a blanket
he will be mostly stabled all winter, kept in a reasonable amount of work both ridden and driven, and is a very good doer last year he was rugged in his mw, not clipped, and driven for at least an hour and a half every other day and still put on weight

Not sure where you are hun but a lot of areas in the UK have had really unseasonal weather today with high temperatures and high humidity. Most neds - especially hairy ones - have already started to grow their winter coats so a burst of tropical weather will have them sweating for Britain! If you clip now, you'll have to clip again I expect as the full winter coat won't be through yet x

Mine is clipped already as had the same probs as you. Take it all off. You can always revert to a blanket clip later on. Once it gets colder!! he will be very gratefull for getting the hair off.

I've clipped and hogged my cob 3 times since buying her in May. Some horses just need doing all year round. I take everything off - you don't need to worry about getting bits level! I've not used a rug yet either but have got one ready for when it turns a wee bit colder.

ok i did it i clipped him today an now he isnt as itchy as he was and he was such a good boy
hoping he feels more comfortable now
but i think ive been a bit soft putting him in his termatex for the night
