Should I clip him?

As some of you know I have to sell Spooks, my 4yr old welsh A in the next month, he will look incredibly smart once he is moulted out, but at the moment he looks like a hairy fluff ball. He is hopefully going for a decent amount, but I cant even bring myself to advertise him looking like he does

He hasn't started losing his hair at all, was the same last year too, wondered if it was worth clipping him out to make him look smarter and get the summer coat to come through. He will be in work anyway as being schooled to sell so would probably make him more comfortable too.


What do you think?

My only concern would be that it will trash his summer coat clipping this late!!Can you not stick a rug on him to encourage it to come out???
 
i suppose it depends on what type of person you are aiming to sell him to
some would look through the fluff and see the potential underneath
some will be looking for a cosmetically pretty pony

i suppose it wouldnt do him any harm to be clipped, so i would be tempted to clip him, and enhance his appearance

No, not if he is going as a pot. showing pony, the type of people likely to buy him won't be put off by a moulting coat but may be put off by no coat

I like how he is you can see the looks are there even with the fluff. He is gorgeous!
If the right people see him they won't be put off by his coat, my friend has just bought her daughter another show pony that is even fluffier for alot of money.

yeah that to my friend last year, didn't bother clipping end of Jan like she normally does .. missed all the June shows cos of the coat, he is clipped now (two weeks ago) and looks stunning
 
looking at him , im sure buyers wont be put off because i think he looks lovely as he is....hes hanging on to his coat as the weather is still so cold

Are think of clipping him out or just taking some of his coat off
 
Tricky one- he will look uber cute all clipped out but it'd prevent anone being able to show him as an M&M for a while.

I think I would......
 
This was Mac the summer before last. Because he sweats up so bad, we clipped him in the April one last time. He had a fab summer coat.

Can't find any of last summer, but did the same then. We are doing the Frensham ride 20th April and I plan on clipping him again in a couple of weeks time.
 
dont clip him.....anyone who i interested/understands natives should know tey are HAIRY in the winter!
 
No dont do it if he is going to be sold for showing then dont clip, it would interfere with his summer coat, if someone comes to look at him im sure they would see past that, id pop a rug on him to flatten it out abit and sell him as he is. Try lunging him 1st then rubber currying him lots of elbow grease lol, i think he is lovely if i had a little one id be def intrested in him for lead rein classes, he is a lovely pony and in great condition, not fat like alot of A,s, he is a credit to you.
 
Depends on what home you are aiming for? If showing/posh home, then probably clip, if general pony club home then please don't clip!

As a pony club/general home, I have twice bought a practically bald pony this time of year, both had been clipped to enhance their looks, but I would have preferred them warm and hairy and therefore safer to ride.

Both times child was carted round manage by very miserable, frisky, cold pony! I ended up turning one away for two months until it grew enough hair to behave in the manage with my then 9 year old...
