should i clip yet

If he sweats, then yes, we take a layer off when we get hot, absolutely no difference at all. He'll be far more comfortable I'm sure.

He'll be fine out, rug according to the weather.

Is he a tough arab, or a wimpy one? I had one that had to have a rain sheet on every night in summer because he'd be a shivering wreck otherwise. The one I have now is as tough as old boots.

Better, I think, to under rug than overrug. Personally I'd leave the fleece off and probably use a medium weight for now, unless it's absolutely freezing at night, or he is a 'cold' horse of course, you know him best. I'd play it day by day with regards to what you dress him in.

well i bought him and he was a wimp and now he is a hard arab

- was shivering in rain other day so thought awww poor wee mite ill put him his light weight on - and the bugger was sweating 30 minutes later lol

why does he have to have a full clip to start?

I clipped frank yesterday and he has a blanket through to december and will then have a late full clip as he takes so long to loose winter coat. But prefer not to full clip whilst they are still living out, I would rather do a trace but his neck is the really fluffy bit so has to come off!

Have already clipped my daughter's pony - all of mine live out clipped out with big rugs on, unless it's really horrible, until December time.

The way mine was sweating tonight after a fairly hard schooling session I think he will be having a date with the clippers this weekend!

I will hunter clip him from the outset - but he comes in at night all year round and it is easier for me to deal with rugs than a sweaty wet horse!
