Hi again, help needed.
Things are on the up again, great lesson this week now doing a little canter work and trotting poles which Ebony decided to jump over !! Lumps and bumps from the other weeks fall nearly gone and we are back there again taking on the world.
Well this Sunday we are taking ~Ebony to the local show to do the usual in hand showing that we do every year in which we always do very well, I do not do that much as I have a poor runner that goes around with her but its something I love doing with her being able to dress up and have her looking GAWJAS is great to do.
Today we were talking about what to enter when a couple of people said I should take her in the ~Ridden Novice Show class, I would love to do this but I would be up against all the able bodied people and I do not want people to look at us and to make fun of me, or us as Ebony deserves more than that, so I do not know if I should give it ago or to let one of the other girls take her as I do not want to let her down.Half of me wants a big sign on my back explaining what is wrong with me, then the other half of me does not, as I want to be normal what ever normal is lol.
You have always given me great advise in the past and now I am sitting here really not sure what to do.
Thanks again for taking the time to help :) :) :) :)

I really don't see why anyone would laugh at you. I find local shows in general have been good and I was expecting people to laugh at me but I have found new friends and its brought my confidence up.

I actually find you an inspiration after having read some of your previous posts. If you're happy to, then I would say go for it. There is nothing to stop you :)

All the best, and let us know how you get on if you do go.

I think you should go for it! Believe me, if you compete against people like me in a ridden class, you will be fine!! There are always people more numpty than you could ever be in a ring, promise ;D

I have competed against someone with one arm before (amputated below the elbow) - she got nothing but admiration from all the other riders and spectators, and TBH we never even noticed initially - she rode so beautifully!

I hope to see your ridden showing pics!!!

GO FOR IT!! no one will laugh at you hun, they may look and stare but they will only be thinking wow what a great lady :D I hope I could be that brave and good to do it

You go and have fun. Novice show classes are really really good and everyone will be nervous or if not pot hunters and they don't deserve taking any notice of

HUGS and enjoy:D

I don't think people will laugh at you!
My advice is to do what you feel ready for. If you feel a bit too nervous, then don't ride because you won't enjoy it. You've had a few ups and downs lately (literally!), so don't risk denting your confidence again. But if you feel up for it and ready, then you go girl!

No one is going to laugh! Go for it. People may look as they won't be able to believe their eyes but I guarantee they'll be impressed rather than anything negative. Like we all are I expect.

Lots of photos please :)

I don't think anyone would probably even notice :)

You are clearly a good rider, no matter what your head is telling you at the moment :)

And trust me, as a spectator ATM not a competitor, Iore often than not only look at the beautiful horse that is turned out looking smart and wonderful and very rarely the rider.

Go for it I am sure all your worries are not at all warranted.

And if people do sneer which I am sure they won't, at least , able bodied or not, you had the guts to do it . Xxxx

Why on earth would anyone laugh? And even if they do, let them, I'm sure none of them would show the heart and bravery that you do in your situation.

Go, have fun, make sure you both look amazing! :D

J&C

Go for it!
Has any-one on here said "Why on earth are you riding?"
No, of course not! Every-one is full of admiration and we haven't even seen you! I'm sure that any-one who sees you in the ring will feel the same as HHO members and tbh if any-one, is rude enough to laugh/sneer, my guess is that bystanders will be horrified at them.
If I were you, I'd go prepared to ride but also have someone on standby to ride Ebony for you, if the occasion gets too much.
Good luck!

Get away wi you.. Spruce yourself up and go for it, when i hear of the stuff youre doing on here youll be as good as anyone else in the ring.
How exciting, get going and put the pics up when youve been

Get on with it! "Able bodied" people have confidence issues too remember! My disabilities aren't visual - arthritis and recovering from a broken back. Hurting my back has shown me that you get one chance at life, so let's all make the best of it :)

DO IT!!! Honestly, if you don't you will regret it! I did my first in hand show with my 2yo the other week. I have NEVER done an inhand class before and never shown a youngster so believe me I was panicking about all sorts of issues like will I just do everything wrong, will I trip up, will HE trip me up/knock me over, make me look TOTALLY incompetent?!!! Lol. As it was it actually went very well, a lot better than I was expecting so i definitely think you should do it.

~Thank you, the trouble is unless you see me trying to walk (wobble) with my crutch you would not know that the whole of my leg was missing due do the false one,so when on top I sort of look like any other person riding apart from having a very strange position on my right leg lol and this is why I think they would think look at her, I know should not worry about what other people think but I still do and I really need to get over it,but its hard.

Would you allow the very very few people who may be moronic enough to laugh to choose your hairstyle? If not then don't allow them to interupt any other of your activities :D If you feel that the judge may have a problem with realising what the problem is, then have a discreet word with the steward at the beginning of the class, who can then explain to the judgem without too much fuss being made about it.
Enter and enjoy :)

Well said york, just do it, as you said know one would know. I have two whole legs and still ride in a funny position, and let's be honest, so do the majority of people.

We all have one side stronger than the other.

You will be just fine.

Lots of pictures of your day please, you really have over come a lot of fears, don't let this one win

glad to hear that things are going better for you. if you want to do it, then do it! so what if you ride slightly differently to other people? why does different mean wrong? if its a novice showing class then its for people who havnt done it before so its a good opportunity. why let what other people stop you doing anything? you deserve to do it as much as anyone. if anyone is pathetic enough to say anything then just think they dont have to face the challenges you do, & if they did they wouldnt manage it nearly so well. but i know its hard to ignore other peoples comments, even when they are made by thoughtless people who do not know your situation.
having said that i dont compete because i dont like the idea of being judged. it causes a lot of stress for me & i am happier to not do it. but if you want to, then go for it!

Forgot to say, and who cares what other people think, some one comes first and last at all stages of competition, and you will know you did the best that you ad your horse could, and yu will take the best horse home... And lastly who is to say that YOU won't come first x

You go for it! I have judged on many occasions at RC level and have seen able bodied people who have made complete idiots of themselves without too much difficulty!!
You can and you will do well....
Good luck!

you are so amazing! wish you saw what everyone else on here does :)

Go for it, its horsey people, their fave thing in the world is judging people (sorry....:D) so no matter what, every person in that ring is going to have ''something'' ''wrong'' with them.

Go for it, i bet you would get the adrenaline and be brilliant.

Thanks to everyone, Ebony has been washed and groomed to within a inch of her life, and I have decided to give it a go, if she stands still enough for me to get on I will go for it, trouble is it is a bit of a performance to get me on and at home she does not move a hoof which is good, but sometimes she will get a bit excited when a show so if she will stand long enough for me to get on then will do it, and sod them if they mock me, if not will still enjoy the inhand showing, so nothing to loose. :) :)

Have a great day! We are showing tomorrow and usually make an arse of ourselves one way or another! Never-the-less it's all good fun and great experience for pony and daughter. Fingers crossed she behaves and you get the chance to enjoy the ridden class x

I am so pleased you have decided to go for it:) You will have loads of fun.

I entered my very first local show (in hand ) and I was a nervous wreck:) Laura 6544 literally pushed me into the showing ring:eek: I cocked it up more than once:D but we got a first. Everybody was great, nobody laughed and it gave me lots of confidence.

Looking forward to seeing the picccies:) Have a really great day.

As Spot The Risk says..proud of you, I think that probably goes for everyone who reads your posts on here. Also puts numpty riders like myself to shame, the thought of entering a show gives me the a serious case of the wibbles, resulting in having to lay down in a darkened room.

Honestly wishing you a fab day at the show, go girl !!!
