Should I expect a HUGE set back????

Ok so we know the trials and tribulations that the gobshite has put me through BUT literally within the last week he seems to have calmed beyond all belief- I have been off but still- everything just seems to have settled- calmer greetings, calmer in the house, calmer EVERYTHING.

Now next Saturday I am going on Hols (was booked before we got him), and he has to go into kennels

Should I prepare for being back to square one on my return???

i am NO expert!!! but I would say, I doubt he'll forget what you've taught him.. it may take a day or so to settle back into his routine though?

he can come stop with me and Lola puppy if he likes

Well if you were nearer you could drop him off with me as long as he promised not to eat the puppy. Im sure after 2 good run arounds a day with Diesel & Darcy he would be knackered and slimmer by the time you got back..

Im sure when you pick him up from the kennels he will be hyper but wont have forgotten what you taught him. It might take him a while to settle again but he will. Where you going anywhere foreign.?

He might be a bit out of sorts and you might have a bit of homework to do but I would not let it worry you - try not to let either him or you go OTT on collection

Extinction burst are likely but after it will be much more solid behavior.

and she would love any friend thats not old, decrepid and grumpy like my mums oldy!!

Going to the Algarve....... are you suggesting my lad is portly? LOL He wouldnt want to come home from your's DG.

Am planning on walking him back from the kennels- about 3 miles in the hopes of him being a touch calmer on re entry to the house!

KL what is an Extinction burst?

Am just expecting the sort of massively over excited behaviour that we had when we first had him.... BOO. May just spend the entire day walking him......

Mine have always tended to be sulky when I come back after leaving them rather than hyper. My old girl Chaka used to ignore me for a day or two! Try not to make a huge fuss of him when you collect him from kennels, just try and greet him as you would after leaving him for a couple of hours. He may be a bit hyper for a day or two but with any luck he will be so pleased to be back with you he will be a paragon of virtue.
