Just got back from a nice hack out but met with a dilemma ;) There lying in the lane was a boxed Easter egg! (Cadbury's - containing creme eggs :p) I'm pretty sure it wasn't an empty box but what to do?! These days with arthritis in my knees I can't get on easily from the ground and there was no handy banking around for me to clamber on - and where was I going to put the egg as I rode along? Maybe I should have just scoffed it there and then :D Then I might have got off and it had been an empty box after all. :(

I rode on after a lot of deliberation!!

Yes! Definitely!

I quite like walking with the horse, and we could have shared the egg on the way home :D Mind you, he will pick up dropped gloves and hand them back to rider, so I might have been able to persuade him to pick it up for me, but the box/egg would have been quite mangled and he might have decided not to hand it over ;)

Been looking for ways to get my kids out riding more and they LOVE chocolate... can see me putting out a trail of chocs - brilliant idea :p

Do an Easter Treasure Hunt for them.....lots of simple clues to where they can find some 'treasure' and another simple clue to get them to the next one! Oh and if your not too far from me I might just come and join in lol!

I would have got off my 17 hander, even if I had to lead him all the way home for that! Would have been gutted if it was empty though and couldn't get back on! You showed tremendous willpower :D (I'd definitely go back in the car and check though ;))

My kids won't need clues, they seem to be able to sniff out chocolate at 100m:D

There's no way I'd have missed out on a free easter egg (they taste so much better than the ones you've paid for yourself) so I would have got off and walked home if necessary.

Yup I would have! I leapt off my 16:2 mare to grab a tenner I spotted on the road once. My friend wondered what the hell I was doing... Well I wasn't going to leave that lying there! Trouble was it was on a hill so getting back on was fun...

Wouldn't have stopped for Cream Egg Easter Egg...Now if it was Mini Eggs then someone would have had to held my horse while i scoffed it there and then :D

How lucky though, the only thing i have found was a full bottle of Iron Bru in a Coke bottle!!:rolleyes:

Now there's an argument for teaching your horse 'tricks'!! Surely they can be trained to pick up and pass things to you?

I have never come across anything worth picking up, mind you! Just the odd squished pheasant or squirrel! :p

Drive back past it and pick it up on the way home, obviously! :D

Obviously ^^^^^^ I did this with a £5 note just before xmas, saw it as I rode past then stopped the car on the way home, put it on the dashboard with the heater on to dry off whilst I drove home and on the way exchanged it for a bottle of wine in the village shop :D:D:D

I'm just thinking I'm glad I don't hack out with any of you lot, I'd have been trampled underfoot by the number of you that would have leapt off to get to it first! :D ROFL!

Erm, you do know it wasn't irn bru don't you?

My mum once asked me why there were often bottles of pop left by the side of laybys!

and to the OP, yes, I would have got off my horse. was it near your yard? I would have had to go back in the car afterwards to see if it was still there.

You have just reminded me I saw a fiver on a hack on Wednesday and I didnt stop to pick it up - it was really close to yard so meant to pick it up when I got back and forgot  :(

I taught DT to pick things up from the floor and pass them up to me - great for mounted games practice! Miss the dude :(

Pssstttt..... JFTD..... how does one teach one's horse to pick stuff up and hand them to one??? This is a trick one must learn... one feels.
