Horse went in for a lameness work up as shes been unsound for 2 weeks following dressage training. initially thought pulled a muscle ,saw mctimony who treated back and advised vet to check for hind limb lameness.
Has been 1/10 on straight line ,more noticable on a circle . i suspected hocks as she already has a thoroughpin on that leg,off hind .
Booked in today for lameness workup .again 1/10 on a straight line .positive flexion test on that leg, lame on a circle .
vet convinced it is likely to be hock (equine vet practice ) and advised x ray of hock first . 4 x rays taken and no evidence of anything .reluctant to nerve block as still convinced it is hock or higher .and that it would be a waste of time and money ( I PAY FIRST £500) said x ray machine cant do detailed x ray of stifle or hip and advised 2 weeks rest on bute and refer to rossdales then if no improvement .
Im now thinking should i have insisted as im still no further forward in knowing which area were looking at or is it more sensible for her to go for 2-3 days and have full investigations and get to the bottom of it .
sorry for the rambling im just frustrated.
