should i keep entire or geld

Why not keep him a few months longer and take him to Futurity?

Then you will have a 'grading' on him and can decide what to do. It may also give you an indication of what price to ask for him. If he achieves Elite status, then I would be thinking about keeping him entire and selling for a lot more than you have him up for at the moment, for example.

If he only grades as a 2nd premium, then geld him and reduce the price.

Does that make sense?

This sounds like a very good plan. And as MrsMagoo says, worth the expense to get an objective, expert opinion.

up until now futurity hasn't been an option but as of this year it might be as in scotland they only have one venue and it had been in aberdeen which is far to far to travel for me jus not worth the stress of both the horses and me. this year it is much closer so there is a good chance i will be there

Have you considered that it might be the photos which are not showing him in the best light rather than whether he's a colt or a gelding? It's just that I advertise my colts as colts and I've not had any problems either way. If the buyer wants the colt gelded then they either have them done here prior to transporting to their new home or the buyer has it done once the colts have arrived at their place. It's never been a big deal.
