Hi what do you all think, I'm getting on really well with my young horse, but I'm at uni, so he gets the winter off until feb. Should I let my mum ride him? She's a fine enough rider but she does let him get away with stuff eg not be responsive from leg and she doesnt school him, just lets him walk along with his nose in the air not listening at all. I'm quite firm with him because he does try it on alot, just cheeky baby, but I'm a bit worried incase hes naughty with her and she doesnt correct him.
What do you think better to have him hacked out with my mum or not at all?

A horse can be reschooled. My mum used to ride my horses and I let her because it made her feel better about herself. The benefit to her, and the enjoyment she had was far greater than the little bit of work I had to put in to round up again. besides- you can't expect your parents to keep your horse over the winter without some thanks!

I would be exceedingly peed off if I paid all the bills and my daughter said I couldn't ride one of ours!! As Trouble says she will do no lasting harm, and surely better than him being totaly unfit when you are ready to start working him again.

Consider yourself fortunate you have a mum who takes so much interest.
