We have two hunters one of which is a pro and will be clipped and plaited, tail pulled etc, but the other, a cob is new to hunting so won't be clipped for the beginning of the season, but will have his tail pulled and feathers clipped, etc. but i don't know whether he will look smart or silly if he has his mane plaited up? Also i don't want him to be hogged as when we got him his sweet-itch was really bad, but this year he has been less itching as not hogged mane. So what should i do to his mane?

His mane will be pulled up to hand length as it has had the summer to grow so would be able to be plaited up in to bunche, but i don't want to do it if he will look silly

After opening meet you must plait unless it is hogged. If it were a traditional or native you could do a running plait but if you are pulling his mane I don't see why you would think that you shouldn't plait
