Opinions, please on pulling V's mane?

Its rubbed badly at the wither and looks awful and I just wondered is the traditonal plait would look more professional?

Ok Lou, but here's the problem. I can do a lattice, with no real probs apart from it has a thin end, i can handle that!
BUT, when i do a running, it looks good at the top, and all the way down the neck until it comes to the barely there bits and it all goes to pot as I struggle to get a few strands to join. Im not sure what else to dom unless i hog him!!!

I agree. I would pull it to make it all even, so it is the right lenght to plait for this summer and then grow it again to the lenght you like it. I like long manes on spanish horses but it can look a bit silly when there is only half a long mane and half short. That said V would still be gorgeous with no mane!!

No don't pull it. Practise doing some running plaits on him. Or I'll come down and do them for you! I hate short manes of horses that are suposed to have long flowing manes.

which horse are we talking about and what breed, my welsh mountain ponies have manes pulled to suitable length and are shown at county level, its is the norm to be trimmed up etc in welsh classes even though they shouldnt have to be ? if its an arab i would get something on that encourages the mane to grow rather than pull.
