Hi all have been a previous user of forum ages ago and forgot my original user id. Anyway dilema is as follows am currently at a yard bout 7miles from house. All yr turnout and good hacking but school is rubbish. Have been offered space at yard 2miles from home where school is much better but have heard rumours that the all yr to advertised doesnt happen. So question is do I stay put plenty fields etc to ride in summer nowhere to ride in winter or move. Price more or less same on both yardd.

I would contact the owner of the nearer yard to see what she says about the turnout. Were there horses turned out when you visited, presuming you have been there recently? From my experience of moving yards a few years ago, rumours are often untrue and started by disgruntled ex-liveries, however if they are true then it would probably be better for you to stay at your current yard or look elsewhere.

Hi have been twice last week horses in 1 day and out the other. Yo adv they go out unless raining. I assumed he meant if torrential as wld b understandable but am on case to get this clarified

Yo has confirmed they go out unless torrential, blizzards or galeforce winds. Am leaning towards moving especially as I can walk to new yard

Does the new yard have a sand school or trash paddock they can get turned out into if they're not in the fields?

To be honest, I would pick the second yard. I have my horse so I can ride and compete. For me, there is no point having him unless there is a reasonable school to ride in.

I have stabled on yards that have loads of turnout but no decent facilities, and at yards that have limited turnout but excellent facilities. For me and him, we are both happier when we can work properly.

Although saying that, I do insist that he gets out every day for at least an hour if the fields are closed. We have a turnout paddock to use in horrific weather so he can stretch his legs and have a roll. He seems happy with this, as if it's torrential he doesn't wanna be out anyway.

So if it were me, I would go to the 2nd yard :D xx

Yip 2nd yard has rubber school can to in and tbh. I really like current yard but can only school in field and there under water god knows when theyl dry
