Good grief. It's hardly a stupid question - I have seen far, far more ridiculous questions on here. I have 30 years' experience and I still spend a lot of time thinking about rugs, especially in spring, autumn and at times of total freak weather like now. I don't think it reflects badly on the OP at all. So, OP, take no notice.

And fwiw I'd keep the fleece on if he's in tonight - a lot of people assume the stable is the warmest option when actually the lack of movement can make them cooler.

I do this too with my mother and between us we have a few years on you :D it's not that I wouldn't make the decision alone but it never hurts to get another opinion - plus they might have heard the weather forecast when you haven't ;)
 
I can quite understand the op asking this question - the weather is not what we would expect in June, and modern rugs give us a lot of choice and variation in the protection they offer. On the yard i keep my horse at, there any several experienced horse owners and we regularly have meeting of the "rug committee" to discuss appropriate rugs to use or not to use depending on the weather forecast. Sometimes it is just reassuring to seek a second opinion - and i might add perfectly harmless to do so.
