I was on holiday 2 weeks ago when my horse got kicked in the near fore knee the day I flew back. I had been cold hosing it and giving him 2 bute a day. On Saturday it still wasn't looking much better so I called the vet who examined him and didn't seem to think it was anything more sinister and said it had probably swelled so much as it was close to the joint.

He gave me something stronger than Bute which he has to have 2 a day for 5 days and a new gel I think it's call compagel or similar. After that he goes back on to bute so a few days.

I am still cold hosing but when I went up tonight he seemed worse not better ?? he is due for shoeing tomorrow and unfortunatly has gone a little bit over as I was away and then my farrier was.

So do you think I should give it a day or so after shoeing to see if it's that. I have a good relationship with my vet and my horse is more than a little accident prone so they know him quite well.

I would give your vet a telephone call to see what he thinks.
