I'm kidding, honest.

But.

Why do they get Sooooo FAT so easily!!!!! Mine is virtually obese and she is on bare ground. I work in agriculture and there is no way I could fatten sheep or cattle on the grass she gets yet she is a total porker!

In the wild they would have to walk about 30 miles everyday to find food and water, they live out all the time in all weather and that is what their bodies are set up for, so when they become pampered and domesticated they get mega fat!

My haffy is the same. I work him as much as I can, keep him unrugged and in a bareish field and he is still a bit tubby! x

Sec A crackling?! :D I sympathise (although through a slightly sheepish look as my Connie has had an unintended holiday in the last week or two due to my own workload - in my defence, still with measured soaked hay and caving in finally to muzzling... but even with half-decent workload it's a battle).

I have a field of defered grazing to strip graze this winter but I reckon she will be staying where she is! She is going to a show in November so on a diet for that.

I couldn't manage a whole one!
We had a section a that breathed calories, currently have an Appy and a Westphalian cold blood who do the same! They look if as they should be on their way to smithfield. :D

Why not? they eat them on the continent, same as they do cows. Just cos we don't love cows like we do our ponies.........(runs for tin hat.....)!!!

They can have their first season as they turn a yearling normally. Our welsh filly had her first season at 11 months old around Feb/March time this year.

Though highly doubtful if she's that young to catch first time, I didn't realise she was only a baby....I'd hit her hard with a wormer maybe, then see what happens and if she grows into herself. She doesn't look too fat in the neck and bum to me, just huge belly! :)
