Firsty...my mare had a fall (i believe) in a field back in June and was seen by the vet straight away that did tests on her and apparently it came back with muscle rupture from bloods...so on she went with a month box rest as per instructed by vet....and then 5 min in hand walk...great I thought...then she could be turned out in a small paddock.
Well I moved her and put her on box rest again following transportation for a couple of weeks, then turned her out into a small paddock she was doing sooo well.
then after the loss of my other horse I moved her to her current yard and she's settled in so well I turned her out in field with 2 other little mares and she's just gone backwards, I have since noticed after the muscle wastage around her shoulders that one side is more protuding...hard to explain really but at the top of her shoulder nearest to her chest area one side has a hard lump she is lame on this leg, but that was put down to muscle rupture but I'm not convinced really, can she have possibly fractured it or popped out? really at a loss now vet will be coming out this week to assess her but i dont know what to do??

Any help or advice would be great
Thanks

I would get a good chiropracter out to have a look at her. I had something similar with a horse a couple of years ago. Horse became lame in front and could not figure out what was wrong. I had several vets look at him and doing tests and in the end they wanted me to go a horsepital that could do the radioactive x-ray etc. to see his shoulder at all angles. He had a lot of muscle wastage at this stage which took a while to develop. I was fed up with the vets at this stage as I was still convinced it was more muscular or joint related. I got a very good chiro out and he told me one of his shoulder joints was out of place. He literally 'popped' it back in and I haven't looked back since!! Horse was sound instantly and has gone on to win loads. Worth a try in my opinion, goodluck

oooh sounds so similar did your horse have large swelling when first happened on forearm?
I do believe she's popped it out it certainly looks like it to me, just hard lump on her shoulder area poor little mite and is very short striding with it too...which she will be if this is the case, would be nice to have a good chiropractor to look at her so we can look at getting her on road to recovery as she hates not being worked aswell.

Thanks very much for your advice I will now ask about a chiro in my area
