Hi all
For various reasons my 16.1 part hackney cross gelding has not been doing much this summer. Over the past 3 weeks or so he has been struggling to put pressure on his fore leg particularly when coming up after a roll in the field. I have also noticed there is some swelling in his shoulder and around the top of his leg, on occasions this appears to be sensitive to the touch. Farrier reckons its due to ground being so hard and not foot related, he is out 24/7 at present and does enjoy a gallop around the field. Not sure how this has happened as not been kicked as grazes alone, may have turned/pulled up too sharply or slipped. Appears sound when he comes in but not when on the lunge, also rode him a couple of days ago just at a walk in the field and he was very nappy. Am just on verge of calling vet but thought would ask what others think? I felt he would be best kept out as not sure could handle box rest but is this just making it worse? Thanks for any advice.
