I suffer with a trapped nerve in my shoulder .. from years back when i played the violin! The physio tells me that my posture doesnt help and that i should sit bolt upright with my shoulders back all the time.

Of course i do not do this!! i have an office job (accountant) so im sat a desk all day on the computer or doing written work. which doesn help either.

My posture while riding is good ... i do alot of show jumping and ridden showing. However i find that sometime riding causes the nerve in my shoulder to become trapped again and thus painful.

Has anyone bought or used one of these 'shoulders back' posture supports? what are they like? do you recommend / not recommend getting one? im thinking i could use it while riding and sometimes in the office / at home.

yes, i've got one somewhere. tbh i found it too restrictive to ride in, but i prob should have persevered with it.
maybe for work you need one of those Z shaped chairs that improve your posture, that you sort of perch and kneel on. hope you know the one i mean.

yeah i know the one thanks. everyday work doesnt seem to affect me too bad. I have quite a good chair already. its more riding/hacking (when i get lazy!) and travelling (planes and coaches make my shoulder really hurt)

I've got one... and it is ok - although I find it makes my shoulders ache a bit if I wear it for too long... but for riding it is ok. but TBH I have given up with it - because it seems a bit unnatural - the way it forces you to be...

Would it be better to maybe do Pilates? I know that was what I was told... just got to get around to enrolling somewhere

I've got bad posture - tried one of those back things. Very uncomfortable, but probably because it's doing its job! I should persevere. The disadvantage I found was the straps that go under your armpits - VERY uncomfortable - but this might vary with make.
