So Murphy is settling well with one exception, he shouts and howls when on his own. We've tried ignoring him until hes quiet then letting him out and praising him but hes just not getting any better. Hes never in his bed alone, the other three are there too. I've never had one which hasnt settled and hes starting to drive us and the neighbours mad. Any tips or ideas as to what we can do to stop him?

Perhaps try him with a calmer for a couple of weeks until he settles in. I had Skullcap and Valerian tablets for Harley for a while and found they really helped - I wished I had tried them earlier ! I think Cayla is the very best person for advice but I don't think she's on here much nowadays, why don't you pm her. Good luck:)

Staffies are VERY needy for human contact (this was the Staff you found??????)- not so much for other doggies - it'll take him a while to settle as with any new dog. DAP collars can work. Maybe a cosy crate?

It was a staffie lexie. Hes much better than when he first arrived. Hes quiet at bed time and when we leave its now only when he hears us get up in the morning and when hes in his bed and we're about (coming in with shopping etc so he cant come out.) so hes getting there. Hes started playing with Tia too :D

Too gorgeous.... mine used to do that- if he could hear you but was unable to get to you- shout scream holler- god awful noise- learnt (actually quite slowly.... bless him of tiny brain) that he wasn't allowed to be with us unless quiet...... took a while tho!!
