Ok, so we're planning on giving showing a bash but what do we think to my 5 yr old? Hogged as a cob, plaited coloured or glue factory reject?!

he is very nice and well marked but i think show cobs should be alot heavier i know there are lightweight show cobs but dont think you can beat a nice heavyweight though thats only a personal opinion

More photos please!!! Can't really comment on his conformation or type with the photos attached so far. A couple of full side-on views with him stood on level ground would help and maybe one each showing his front and behind. We'll be able to better tell with those piccies.

Whatever though.... he looks lush. I really like him. He's got a lovely eye :)

Hard to tell how heavy she is from your pics but at a glance i would say a bit too fine for a show cob, more of a plaited and trimmed type :)
SHe is lovely though

I think she's a smasher. Personally I dont like hogged manes so I would keep the mane and show her as a coloured. I disagree that the neck is to thick for plaits. If you keep the mane well pulled then they won't look like golf balls.

Thanks for all your comments so far. This is the best side on shot I've got, although she was only 3 at the time and has filled out in to herself quite a bit since then. Not quite sure what's she's doing with her back legs here! Our biggest fault is going to be front legs - she's back at the knee and has pretty upright pasterns but everything else is pretty well put together I think.

This is very blurry but shows her in action:

Lacks bone for a cob. Plaited & trimmed def. At 14.3 she'll look small in a Small Hunter Class at county level, but is a very striking coloured, so I would make coloured classes your main aim.

I'd say small hunter too so plaited, tail pulled and banged and feathers off. She has a lovely head so invest in a good bridle to really show it off

Thanks everyone for your comments. Decision made not to hog! Plan now is to get out and do a couple of unaffil dressage comps, to get her in the party mood, then have a bash at a showing class and see how we get on. Watch this space!

She's lovely. Definitely plaited and trimmed, I had a similar decision to make with my old loan horse, she had a really really long mane but wasn't really heavy enough for a traditional, and RI (who owned her) insisted on clipping her legs but leaving her mane long and wanting me to show her like that, which really didn't work! In the end I pulled her mane and we showed her plaited and I think she looked fairly good, she's a bit heavier than your girl too I think
