Show cobs? how about Mini cobs?

Okay so i have been showing, show cobs for about 4-5 years now and bought a stunning youngster to make 15hh wouldnt you know it he is 14.1hh! at 4 years old i cant see him growing another half a hand really can you? and i was thinking if they have accomidated for the larger boys, surley its only fair to do it for the mini guys too!

He's geourgous. :D :D Yes i agree they should acomidate the smaller cobs. I know some lovely cobs who are under hight :( Unless they are coloured there isn't much else in the showing world they can do :mad:
 
Show cobs are supposed to be between 148cm/14.2hh and 155cm/15.1hh so it is possible he will grow big enough for cob classes although he may look small compared to an up to height cob.
 
Well thats what we were thinking because my 15.1hh show cob is a real big lad and he looks small too him, is width would be perfect for a light weight but i honestly dont think that the judges would give him a 2nd glance against the big boys at county, maybe local i could get away with it but definatley think were going to stick with the workers.
 
There are classes coming out for whole coloured cobs so they're will be things to do. OP your boy is very very similar to a little lad i used to have but mine had spottie bum, :D
 
This annoys me to. I have a very solid and correct (except for height) 14hh coblet, we show at local level where height doesn't matter, but I have been told by many a good judge that if she were 15.1 she'd go county easily....

He stands at just over 14.2hh and i show him at local level in cob classes. He is absolutely dwarfed next to county level show cobs so i just enjoy him for what he is and use him as a true allrounder for which he is absolutely perfect. It would be lovely if they did introduce mini cob classes though as there do seem to be plenty of them around!
 
Cob classes confuse me - I have always been rather fond of the lovely SMALL traditional cobs you see, you know, the ones that are about 13.2hh if they're lucky?!
I can't see where or how 16hh 'cobs' became correct? Ok, I don't know much about them on the whole, and prefer to see them driven than ridden, but if you're going to have something that size you might as well paint white bits on a shire!
All of the nicest cobs I have ever seen have been under 14.2hh.... and I honestly can't really stand the huge (usually fat!) show types that seem to be so popular now :/ Yard I used to ride at was a dealers yard, a few people drove there - they at one point had a small cob (can't have been over 14hh, more like 13hh!) that had been to/was HOYS potential apparently??
But if all these small cobs wont even get looked at then that makes no sense....??

He's stunning, I think you should give him to me :D

I was planning to hog my cob and show him and county level this year but was concerned about the height issue (he's 14.3hh) so I feel your pain, he's absolutely dwarfed by most of the cobs in the ring.

Ahaa, but now there is! You can grow them out and show them with the TGCA! :D Now all cobs of all sizes and colours have a job! But they do have to be hairy... They are even doing a lead rein class!!!

HIII Guys sorry i havent been on for AGES! i havent had internet your Cobs are lovley and i think we should all get together in force and demand a `Coblet` as i seen someone put (which i love haha) class they should be taken seriously and thought id let you all know as an update reeally my cob has grown an inch!!! xx
 
Hi everyone.
I know this is an old post but I am currently doing my best to get the mini show cob, or coblet, recognized by the higher level shows and showing organisations. I have emailed BSHS and BSPS with replies from both but I need to show there is a demand for the mini show cob.
I am thinking if I start a petition and get as many people to sign as possible it would make for better evidence that there are people out who would like to have their own class at shows.
Would anybody be willing to help ?
I can post the conversations between myself and BSHS and BSPS if anybody is interested.

A horse can easily grow 2ins between 4-5, if hes 4 this year. And a set of shoes will add 1/2 an inch. My 16.1 4 yr old was a 17hh 5yr old!
 
As much as I would love to see smaller cobs out showing, I really really hope they don't call the class "coblet". It sounds so childish! Mini cob, or Cob minimi is a much better name :p

op, I know this is an old post but did your boy ever grow any more? :)
