Any one in to these? I have a 14hh that i have in to sell, really really smart pony, that I have been told would make a top class show hunter pony and is meant to be bred to do so. I would love someone who does these to assess a few pics of him, tell me best ways to build him up ready for the ring and what judges want to see when ridden. I have no idea on this class at all! Do people who want these ponies want them ready made and produced or do they like them green but willing? Basically do they have to be like dressage ponies or a bit more workman like? Mine minces along very sweetly at the moment but getting a good gallop out of him would be hard!

my friend is BIG into show hunter ponies.
1st of all you need to get a tweed jacket. ride like a show class or anyother class. yhwn doing ur show piece you should gallop at the end. have god step if you can and try get his head tucked in but nothing serious as thats like show ponies.
and just be urself! also plait ur pony up but dont plait his tail, have it wavy or normally. and u know people have designs on their ponies bum? no need for tht ;) pm me if you want to ask some other questions.
hope i helped:)x

A show hunter pony is essentially a scaled down version of its horse counterpart. If you are mincing around the show ring all blinged up the chances are you are on a show pony :D Show hunter ponies tend to be more workmanlike and have a bit more substance about them...think of the difference between hunters and hacks/riding horses and scale it down basically :) Oh and the only time you will ever see a shp with an unplaited tail is if it's pulled ;)

Also, being a real showing numpty, who do you affiliate with for show hunter ponies? are there any websites for governing bodies of some sort of show hunter association?
