Thinking of doing a show hunter class with my boy this weekend. I've never done a show class in my life and it will be his first time ever at a show so it could be interesting!

Just after some advice on turnout. I've read that he should wear a flat cavesson noseband, but I don't have one. I normally ride him in a rolled noseband with a flash - would this be ok?

His tail isn't pulled, can I leave it unplaited or not?

Can I wear a black jacket or does it have to be tweed?

Thanks to all for reading :p

What size show is it. If its just a small local one you will get away with it.

To be correct you should have plain hunter bridle with rugby pelham or double. Tweed (green if poss) jacket, shirt and tie, beige breeches, long black boots, navy velvet had with flesh coloured harness. Brown gloves and show cane. Hair in a bun

Mane plaited and tail pulled.

As per Rockysmum, if a small show, you will get away with what you have. Would be best if you could find a tweed as the black jacket will stand out more. A pulled tail is correct but if you can't pull it, would suggest plaiting it if you can as that will show off the horse's backside better than a full tail just left.

Main thing is, not to worry if you haven't got exactly the right stuff. Just enjoy it.
