I want to buy a jacket for just general RC type level competitions- a bit of jumping and dressage, that kind of thing. Just wondering what the rest of you use for similar things? What is the best all-round jacket and what colour? What colour breeches do you wear with them?

Don't worry too much about budget at the minute.. I don't even know if I have one, that will depend on the bill I get from the mechanic tomorrow.. :D :eek: ;)
 
If I was you I would get a good quality tweed - mine was a second hand brown Pikeur tweed off eBay - looked like new and I got it for £35.

I write and judge dressage and I much prefer to see someone in tweed at lower levels - I wear brown jod boots and brown leather gaiter with fawn colour jods and yellowish gloves.

It's much more of an all round jacket you can virtually do anything in a tweed.
 
I have a black Animo (compete aff show jumping), pricey but smart and very comfy and easy to look after.
In your case a nice tweed will be good or have a look at Pikeur as they do some very nice navy technical fabric jackets that dont cost a bomb. They can look smart with beige breeches and brown boots as well :)
 
I picked up a blue/grey tweed Sherwood Campolino from ebay for £18. I don't have a regular ride, so I just went for what suited me instead. *g*
 
Pikeur all the way! ...the fitted ones make you look really slim too which is always a bonus ;):p. I'm planning on buying one next month.

I currently have a dublin jacket, they're nice but don't fit very well. Mine is a size 12-14 and although the body is fine (albeit a little too big), the arms and the top of the jacket are hugeeee and it just doesn't look right!
 
I have Dublin ashby in black and the Cambridge tweed. The ashby comes up big I find (VERY busty but small waist), the tweed is quite snug over the bust but both are the same size. I find them a really flattering fir for my shape.

I have white and butter milk jods.
 
I'd go navy or tweed. Navy is so smart, as well as being correct for ladies, much more flattering generally than black too (esp when going a bit grey when baulking your next comp lol!!).

I have a tweed from Alexander James and my navy is light the light wool Epsom from Pikeur. Love them both. Thinking was I'm done growing, so I might as well get something I feel fantastic in that will last.

If you're ebay hunting then obv Pikeur are lovely (poss want up a size though with them and Cavallo, found the sizes a bit mean!), the shires huntingdon ones are really smart esp for the money, and Tagg do a lovely light wool jacket and tweed.

Jods for navy are champagne and jods for tweed are pale beige. You'll never get me near white!
 
I have a navy musto technical jacket - it's fairly waterproof, I love it. It wasn't bank breaking either.

My tweed I rarely wear, infact it's going to have to come out next weekend I think though, I can't remember the make but it's a decent brand, but the sleeves aren't quite right and it's not the most flattering thing in the world. I would LOVE an Alexander James tweed so much though!
 
I have a made to measure wool equiport

Black with very fine pale pink pinstripe , pale pink colour and trims and I love it. Was expensive around £450 - £500 but will last me a lifetime and looks lush ;-)
