I think you should buy (personally) a caldene jacket as I think they're really nice looking, you can move about in it (e.g folding for a jump), shoulder pads and theres room in the stomach area.
Good luck finding your jacket :P

I have a Shires one which cost me £80, and I love it! Then you could use the spare money to buy something else as well! However mine's a tweed and I assume you want a navy?

If you are reasonably small, Pikeur do all their jackets in childrens sizes - loads cheaper than the ladies sized ones - and the smaller sizes are the same as the smaller ladies anyway. I got a Fabienne (I think) for 80 or so quid!

I wayed up everything I would wear a jacket for and in the end bought a tweed. It's a Shires Huntingdon tweed in green check and I love it, cost about £70 but it looks a lot more expensive!

I have a Dublin black show jacket that I'm selling on ebay and have bought a gorgeous black wool hunt coat for hunting this winter. It fits like a glove and will keep me a lot warmer than a show jacket will!

Tweed or navy depends on the classes you want to do at shows. And I think navy is correct for hunting? (Please correct me if I'm wrong, as I think I read it somewhere!)

Personally I'd get a tweed as you can do everything in it locally, as far as I'm aware. But then I've only ever had natives. I wouldn't get a blue tweed as I've heard they are thought to look cheap in the showing world.

I'm getting my next jacket from Mrs. Candy. I've also looked at Pretty Ponies, they have some lovely jackets too!

I got a lovely shires one for around £80 the other day. it's a lightweight one - perfect for standing in lineups on a sunny day - nice cut, roomy and really comfortable.
