I’ve always had mega problems with show jackets – ive got tweed and Ive got navy – both of which are a completely awful fit – Ive a small waist but big boobs so jamming them into something a decent size makes me look rather ‘squished’ to say the least – alternatively I get something about 4 sizes too big and end up looking ridiculous – cant win either way.

So my question is … when it comes to jackets apart from paying £300 and getting a tailered jacket, can you use ‘high street’ tweed jackets and perhaps change the buttons?

Like say this one from New Look?

I have to say that spending £225 on a made to measure jacket was worth it. It really does fit perfectly and we look super smart.
I doubt that by changing the buttons on that jacket you can make it look like a show jacket, the collar and elbow patches will stand out too much. Have you considered buying a cheap jacket that's too big for you from a tack shop or second hand and then taking it to a local tailor?

I was the same nothing fitted nice I bit the bullet and spent £400 odd buck on a made to measure Equiport and its beautiful and fits like a glove and I'm sure I will get many years wear out of it so worth every penny.

I have had friends who have got off the peg suit jackets and tarted up with silver buttons etc, they look great. I struggle to get any to fit properly, suit or otherwise so took one that was a bit too big in some areas and got it tailored for about £40 at a local tailor shop.

Defo feel your pain! 46" round the top!!
