Hey i was just wondering if any one has any adivce i was jumping my boy tonight and over one fence... the last one when the fillers went in he jumped it alot bigger and took of earlier than what im used to it was a 3ft course and i landed on his neck both times in the class and in the jump off i thought i was gunna hit the ground does any one have any tips apart from keep your heels down to be able to not land on his neck gives me a fright as im a bit of a newbie when it comes to jumpin or could it be cause he's young and not done much jumping as he's only 6 and hadnt done anything till i got him

You could try having a lesson with an instructor and try to really focus on seeing his stride etc. E.g you may not have really noticed it, but its more than likely that on the jump before , he took off too late, and then had to figure himself out for the second.

I had a lesson with Darcy in the week on canter strides/ poles etc and it was fab

Cheers ive never really thought about his striding cause ive been really focusing on conquering my own fears which is the fillers themselves so im not sure if it was me who made him think ahh mum its gunna eat me as it was the only fence he done it on he takes off early quite often though as i really leave him too it

I'm guilty of that one too! Which has really come around and bitten me because D picks up on it the second I even so much of think as doubt things. And neatly deposits me at the jump to have a closer look
