Show jumping a horse without front boots?

I don't put boots on for any activity other than going cross country. I do not use any boots for show jumping, hacking or turnout, and certainly don't use them for dressage.

We have half-a-million pound racehorses at work that go out and get galloped or turned out with nothing on their legs - for good reason - avoiding overheating of the tendon and all the potential accident situations of undone bandages or loose boots.

One of my horse's has an old racing suspensory injury and TBH I think I could kill him with kindness wrapping that leg up when actually he is better off with it kept cool and unrestricted. It has worked so far, hope it continues to do so (fingers crossed!)

For years and years whilst eventing everything was booted or bandaged to within an inch of its life......used to boot for field turnout, in-hand grazing, the works!

Last six years or so, no eventing, hunting only............and.............never used a single boot or bandage since for anything and not had a problem despite jumping out of some atrocious going. Maybe I've just been lucky, or maybe I was lucky whilst eventing????

I only use boots for XC, and occasionally might use tendon boots SJ, but very rarely, used to use boots &/or bandages all the time, but following the research into temperature in tendons, stopped using them unless going XC, don't even use them for galloping at home anymore.

my horse over reached jumping and stuck the the back of his tendon with boots on and still ended up lame as he had bruised his tendon but the vet said if he hadnt been booted up he'd have probably just severed his tendon

so I boot up regardless of what im jumping
