Just wondering how many of you (if any!) jump in a dressage coat/jacket and how you find it...

I'm after a new show coat for both jumping and dressage use, and have come across both a Pikeur Diana and a Kentucky Concours in my size, but both are aimed at the dressage market and are therefore a lot longer than SJ jackets are. Before I splurge :p I could do with some feedback as to whether anyone actually does jump in this type of coat, and if so how comfortable/restrictive you find it?

Mushroom risotto, strudel and a glass of white wine on offer to those who can help!! :D

I use my heavy show jacket hit both. I would say its more dined towards the dressage market as is longish in the body. Can't say I have ever thought about it really. As long as its comfy and s good fit can't see there will be a problem

I have always gone the other way, if necessary, as am broad in the shoulders so cannot jump comfortably in most dressage jackets that fit me well.

Thanks guys. Really what I'd like is something like that for dressage and then an Equiport/similar for SJ, but funds sooo do not allow!!

Ooh that's a nice jacket :)

I think you will look pretty damn awesome jumping in that, even if it is more a dressage jacket.

I have the one jacket for dressage and show jumping, as do most people I know, including my boss who rides a range of horses from Pre-Novice/EvA105 (I think thats BE100?) to 3* :)

Thanks NaeNae87. I hope you don't mind me.asking, but whereabouts are you from? EvA isn't something I've heard of (not that that's surprising to me) and I'm curious. :)

I am from Western Australia.

EvA is how we are grading eventing now over here... I am assuming it stands for Eventing Austalia? At least that is what makes sense to me.
It used to be Intro 2, Intro 1, Prelim, Pre Novice... Now they changed it to EvA65, EvA80, EvA95, EvA105. So confusing!! :)

Thanks very much! :)

That makes sense to me too, so hopefully we're right. Got to love it when federations switch things around!

You will be find jumping in a Pikeur Diana. Mini TX has one for BD, but uses it for SJ as well, as it doesnt scream 'Eventer doing showjumping' like a tweed one does. She finds it comfortable. I dont know what your build is, but she is petite but curvey.

Thanks very much TX. I'm 5'6 and an hourglass 10/12 so hopefully from what you've said should be OK.

She's 5 foot 3 and a size 8, with a small waist and boobs and hips so definitely an hourglass so reckon you will be fine. Looks lovely as well, but quite long when you are not riding. She has the washable version which always washes well and looks good.
