Show Labradors

MY lab once disappeared on a walk. Finally found him, working his way through the dumped contents of someone's freezer - he was half through a partially defrosted chicken when we discovered him.
He had absolutely NO ill effects whatsoever. Vet was on standby. I didn't sleep for 24h for worrying - but the bloody animal just slept off his gargantuan, high risk feast, and woke up the next morning all bright eyed, bushy tailed, and ready to go scavenging all over again!
At some point I guess you have to applaud the tenacity of the Lab and acknowledge he got away with it!

Is the eating anything purely a lab thing?

No, also Bassett hounds...unlike labs I don't think they ever really grow out of it though.

Lots of puppies chew the odd item here and there, but until you've seen a lab destuff an entire three seater sofa or chew a hole through the wall then you ain't seen nothing. Thankfully for the many many people that worship the breed, not many are quite that bad.

That’s just so Labrador

I’d forgotten about the sofa (or blanked it out). Luna is a husky.

Ahhhhh happy memories!!!! My lurcher pup chewed a hole through the plasterboard wall of our kitchen....he also systematically chewed most of the kitchen units.... not his fault, he wasn’t left for long at all but the whippets wouldn’t play with him!

It was interesting trying to sell the house, thankfully I actually owned that house 😂😂😂

Dee used to retrieve my bras out of the washing basket and chew the underwire out of them. But she's the only one I've had that chewed. Eira used to collect slugs and snails in her mouth and bring them inside (dog flap). Mouthfulls of slugs and soil all crammed up in her gums, she was a disgusting puppy/juvenile

My Airedale once chewed up an entire term of a university flatmate`s Russian notes (pre computer era). He learnt to be much tidier after this and didn`t leave things lying on the floors.
I also had a pug that chewed slugs as if they were winegums, ugh!

This was a long time ago now, but was a cushion off the sofa 😢

We had one that destroyed the inside of a car when he was left in it for a short time. The same dog ate one of the sofa seat cushions. I had a different one that ate her way through a wall, after destroying a solid wood door. We have had some that weren't chewers though.
