My beautiful Fairy pony is healing (she stood on herself and needed stitches to her fetlock...bloody TBs!) and she should be home either next weekend or the week after. Very excited! To keep me occupied I've been trawling through lots of old posts on here about ex-racers. It'd be great to see some of your ex-racers in their new jobs with you :)

This is Fairy by the way. She's going to be my dressage horsey :)

He's my allrounder. We take part in Dr, Sj and ODE's at RC and low affilliated level. He's an absolute joy and I love him to bits! He always brings me home with a rosette and a smile on my face. We enjoy hacking out and schooling/jumping, cantering in the fields, you name he does it. He's the ultimate safe, fun, pretty horse. Iv'e had since he was 4 and he is 7 now and I hope he will be part of our family for the rest of his life :).

I hope your one will give you as much pleasure as mine does. Find a good TB and you will never let go :).

Oh wow what a brilliant horse! And he looks amazingly happy too :) Lovely to see.

Fairy is a TRC horse so you might have seen her on their website if you ever look at that. I posted about her a while back after I had my first ride on her so maybe that's where you've seen some pics :)

Yep it was on the TRC website I saw her! I often have a nosey as love looking at what the charities have for rehoming. Good luck with her, I bet you are so excited!

Can't beat a good TB! Here's a couple of my lad - bought at 7 just off the track and he is a brilliant allrounder - we've done really well in everything from showing, SJ and XC and next Saturday sees our first BE event - in the 100 at Bishop Burton.

Bought mine about 2 and a half yrs ago, and to my knowledge he had been off the track about 1.5/2years before that. he is just great to ride and to own generally- perceptive, enthusiastic and tries his best to please. Plus he is a pretty flashy looking animal! We've done a bit of everything, but not to impressive levels (jack of all trades master of none springs to mind ;) )- DR, SJ, XC, ODE, hunting/draghunting, lots and lots of hacking, Le Trec :p - and enjoyed every bit, he makes it all so much fun. He has really come on in leaps and bounds this year, particularly with the XC- just suddenly seemed to 'click' for him. Apologies for the gushing, he goes to his new home on Fri as I am at uni now so I am devastated :(

All of them look very nice in their new jobs. Did have the Ex Racers Club show pencilled in for my new ex racehorse but journey probably a bit far for him as he sweats up badly travelling. Going to stay more local for a while. Shame as looks a good weekend.

I show mine and I think it is safe to say that I have never been judged so badly in my life as I have been in Ex-racer only classes so I will be campaiging in proper show classes and leave the racehorses to their dodgy judging.

Saying that - the 2 Ex-racer Club classes I have done are the only 2 that I have been judged properly and fairly in. Unfortunately it's too far for me to go the Champs Show but good luck to eberyone that is going.

Fig (out of Galileo) 8yo Gelding from Oz. Raced in Oz, Japan and the UK. Came off the track Oct 2011. Came to me Dec 2011. First ridden in a dressage saddle Jan 2012.

He's such a lovely boy, super genuine and incredibly clever. I bought him for dressage and aim to go as far as we can with that. But have got him hacking sensibly and popping some small jumps at home. Love him to bits!

Fairy looks lovely. I'm sure you'll have loads of fun with her.

I love seeing everyones ex-racers.

Here's mine...

Chilli was a 9yo when I got him & had always been on racing yards although he'd only raced 6 times (& was rubbish). He's now 14yo & we've done a bit of everything.
Out best achievement was two placings in our areas unaffiliated dressage champs in 2011 (we were 10th in the Novice & 3rd in the Elementary) & getting 2 whole BD points. We've had a bit of a slow year this year but hopefully it's onwards & upwards over winter!!

Unfortunatley, he's currently a bit lame. I think he's slipped in the field so he's come in & is resting at the moment. He was loads better when trotted up yesterday so fingers crossed that I'll be back on v.soon.

All these posts are making me get giddy with excitement! They all look so brilliant and content in their new lives. Chilli is particularly imposing, but then I'm a sucker for a grey :)

NMT I had no idea Fig was an Aussie! He totally suits it. I can just imagine him strolling around your yard....'G'day Bruce'.... :D

Really enjoying reading this thread!

Mine don't have a specific "job" but I like them to be jack of all trades!

Lord F:

Showing - did some RoR last year, qualified to jump at Windsor (but was off injured come May which was hugely frustrating!), and twice missed Hickstead on one placing!

https://fbcdn-photos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/283819_10100140643567958_6702751_a.jpg

We also do BD with him, he was getting points at Novice last year but has only just come back out after 7 months off injured, so back at Prelim but qualified AF and the RoR final. He's also done fun rides, xc schooling, you name it really.

Kirk last year:
https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/183723_10100500527956758_268875461_n.jpg

Another one does a bit of everything, hunting dressage showing sidesaddle you name it.
He's got a few points at Novice and I hope to do an Elem this winter. Also qualified for RoR racehorse to dressage horse but going to take Lord F as can only cope with one at a time, they are too attached to take together!

Indy came to us Dec last year with leg issues and an asbo for bad behaviour on the gallops. We played about a bit in the school to get an idea of what we had and if I was going to keep him (jury was still out!), then he got 6 weeks out in a field in spring.

IMG_5033.jpg

Brought him back into work first week of April. Since then he's dressaged, hacked, xc schooled, jumped and been out and about to lessons and clinics. He's awesome. His physical issues seem to be cured, as are his mental ones. He's a smart, willing, loving big lad who I absolutely adore. Hoping to spend the winter working on really establishing the basics and giving us an excellent base to build on - I'd love to event him, and so far he seems like he'll do any job I want :)

I've also got 2 other exracers who do a bit of everything.

Rascal is 14 and my Oh's horse.

Pinky is my mare, currently cooking me a foal while having time out to get over some front foot issues.

Pip - the ultimate all rounder, flat-bred TB, hunts, jumps, plays polo and most recently teaching my OH how to ride (having never ridden before)!

Halling - little athletic flat bred TB, super mover and lovely temperament although probably gelded a little late so might be a bit too careful for jumping

We think Dancer probably raced although not 100% as we didn't get her till she was 12 over from ireland and dealer witheld a lot of information. But she is very hot and when galloping, if you egg her on she does lead changes and other things which lead us to think she probably raced over in ireland. Unfortunately she isn't reg so we cant do ROR :(
