Would like our girl to fill out a bit more as she still looks quite immature and weedy especially after the bad winter and stop/start schooling. She turned 5 last month and raced til she was 3/4. We've had her about 5 months. She is gradually filling out and still slightly bum high.

After seeing some pics on other threads with amazing differences I'd like to see pics of your 4/5 year olds TBs compared to what could be termed full maturity at 7/8ish. Thanks!

P.S. Doesn't necessarily need to be a pic; can just be a description of your experience between these ages and if they made any height or just bulked out etc!

Indie is Anglo arab (1/4 arab, 3/4 TB), does he count? (I think the only thing Arab about him is his head (including his brain!!)) He will be 6 in May...

Bought my ex racer at 4 and a bit as a racing muscled dinky boy, he has grown half a hand in the last 2 and a bit years, now 7 and definately chunked up! He is half a hand bigger (without shoes now too so might be more) and 70kg heavier and maintaining it.

I found when he was younger he'd chunk up a bit, then grow upwards, lose a bit of condition/weight or stablise then repeat. Now I am hoping he has stopped growing as he's 15.3 and thats big enough for me!

A few days after I got him (4):

None from this year other than this (7) as he's been injured most of last year and this year :(

Great thanks! Yes I think we can allow the extra Araby bit in this case smanf! My 2nd horse was the same mix and was quite a chunkster. Yours is lovely.

So half a hand between 4 and now leflynn which gives me some hope as your first pic looks very similar to how she looks now I'd say (although less defined muscle as she hasn't raced for 1 year and just done some basic polo and happy hacking since). I'd love her to make an extra inch or so as she is only 15.1hh now so 15.2-3hh would be perfect. They both look lovely; sorry to hear yours has been injured leflynn :-(

Keep them coming people!

Oww thanks, (proud Mum I must confess :o) Pics of yours?..

I have had him since November and haven't really managed to do much with him mostly owing to the weather. I was a bit worried that he was looking a bit poor towards the end of last year, so I put him on Calm and Condition. He seems to do quite well on it, although it is a bit hard for me to say as I see him every day, but looking at photos of him I think he has a bit more of a neck than he did have. Don't think he is going to go any further now though until he starts doing some proper work .

Leflynn, your boy looks like he has made great progress, very pretty colour too. Is the white bit on his eye a facial marking?

Sorry don't have any pictures of her younger, Darcy as a 6yo, previous owner had rescued her as a neglected skinny 5yo full of rain scold. She is 7 now, had a few lanky stages as she's grown over an inch since I got her last year. She is a stockier TB but yours will fill out :)

Red had been out of racing for about a month, then re-schooled for 2 months before he came to me! He is a typical accident prone TB so I'm used to it, fingers crossed we're on the road to rehab :)

Thank you, I think he is gorgeous but I am totally biased :D :o His bright bay nose always makes me smile ;) It's a scar from a sarcoid op he had about 5 months after I got him, he had a huge sarcoid above his eye and the only option was to do the iridium wire op, touch wood it's been fine ever since :)

Hope that pic will work. That is about a month or two ago and she is a bit less ribby now; have just ordered some micronised linseed to try and fatten her up like a Christmas Goose...! Will try and get a more recent one up. She is on Calm and Condition too and just upped to a lunchtime extra scoop as she is in on box rest at the mo because of her vampire legs...

Micronized linseed is a godsend for TB's that need weight! BChick she'll start to fill out more than you expect at this age so don't panic, they also seem to go through naughty teenage stage too (mine did), he's being very sweet and nice at the moment but he is wise to the world more now lol! :D

Ooh I'm interested in seeing other people's pics, I have a 5 year old tbx (pretty much mostly tb). He's currently away for schooling

Feel free to have a nosey through my albums, my bright bay came to me at just turned 3, he's now 6. He's by Mark of Esteem out of a Mtoto mare. He was a little brat at rising 5 after being lovely at 3 and just turned 4, now lovely again.

The chestnut mare was a NH bred mare whom I also got at 3, no surprize given her breeding she was too slow on the flat.

The rest are mainly tbs too, ex-racehorses now hunt horses etc.
