i am utterly useless at show names:rolleyes: wanting one for my new mare she is bay with a white star and snip. Shes a fab jumper and im wating to compete with her. Any ideas of a show name? want it to be short, sweet but not cheesy. thanks everyone!

Doesnt have any spectacular bloodlines at least not what i know of but shes an irish draught x thoroughbred. Dont have much info on breeding

Star and snip (a play on star and stripes)... Not sure I'm any good either. What are her sire and dam's names? Usually good for inspiration or her stable name?

Ah a bit of a blonde moment there haha sorry! her name is 'carlisle queen' but i want something more snappy to suit her and that will sound good when read out:) her name is smudge and unsure of her sire and dams name. thank you REALLY excited! Ah yes i sold him about two weeks ago was just too dangerous:( couldnt go out on him eventually and non of my family or friends would let me back on him...i tried everything but as he was my first ottb i wanted somebody to be able to fulfil his potential. hell prove everybody thats said hes dangerous wrong (including me) as he truly is amazing with a heart of gold, just wish i could of done it myself...

Been looking at the other thread on names and I love the ones that make you giggle when you are announced at a show -

'And here is Jane Bloggs riding Really Badly...'

' And here is Jane Bloggs riding In The Nude....'

Sorry thats not very helpful but it did make me laugh! :)

(I suppose you could try something like 'Like a Dream' to get the opposite effect...! )

Good luck with your new girl.

You have to compete under her registered name, unless you are doing unaffiliated, and then you might get away with using something else :)

Haha that made me laugh but not a bad idea tbh;) well she was born in ireland and 'carlisle queen' is her passport name but that must have been changed because she only gets the 'carlisle' part because thats where she lives now. argh im really confused now lol!

lots of horses come over from Ireland unnamed - then the new owner names them by sending off their passport.

Ah right so i can change the passport name? Because it wont really fit with the shows im going in because carlisle is a completely different place to where im from. thank you it was a hard decision i regret it everyday but at the same time i know hes going to be a star!

No, unfortunately not - the horse can only be named once, sorry. When horses come over unnamed they have what is effectively still their foal passport, and once it is changed for an adult passport with a name that is the name it's stuck with.

My girl is called Smudge too :)

Her registered name is Afera (polish means affair)

I'm pretty sure you can change her registered name if you want to, but she doesn't have to be from Carlisle to have it in her name.
