Show names needed for my cob

You should compete under your passport name - even if you don't like it. Small unaffiliated shows without qualifiers might not care - but everything else will. If you need to prove your horse is vaccinated you can only do that it the horse in the passport is the same as the horse name entered. If you qualify for something - even the champion of the day class - you need to be able to prove the horse you qualified on is the same horse you are riding now. You can't do that if you show under a different name. Even if you are stopped by DEFRA checking passports at a show (not the most likely I know) you are going to have the prove the horse with you is the same horse as the passport. If you want to sell your horse and show his proven competition record you can hardly do that without his having competed under a false name. Under some circumstances it could even invalidate your insurance - if for example the horse was injured whilst competing under a different name how does the insurance know that it was the same horse?

Some PIOs allow you to change the passport name. If you really want to make a change then look at the rules for your PIO and see what is possible. Bear in mind the new EU database is supposed to be brought in by June (allegedly...) and name changes may be more difficult after that.

As above really!
CHAPS and BSPA do not allow changes to the names in thier passports nor will they accept changes to the passport name after the horse has been registered or over stamped by them. Any changes must be done before chaps/Bspa registration if your PIO allows it (and normally they will charge a pretty penny for it)
